About Empress

Empress is a five piece live band founded and fronted by Tanya Dutt, the Berklee trained vocalist behind Tanya the Empress. One stage carries Bollywood and western covers alongside cinematic originals, built for the room: a sangeet dance floor, a cocktail lounge, a corporate gala. The band travels anywhere in India, and every seat is held by a seasoned professional who has played the biggest stages and recorded with the biggest names. You book Empress and the music simply happens.

Voice

Tanya Dutt

Berklee trained in Professional Music, Tanya performs as Tanya the Empress. Her 2023 album ANCIENT | FUTURE and 2024 single Ma'at carry a decade of stages from Delhi to California. She fronts Empress with a voice built for everything from a sangeet dance floor to a late-night jazz set.

Guitar

Siddhant Agarwal

A Rockschool Grade 8 guitarist with more than ten years on stage and in the studio. His band The Incredible MindFunk won the Strawberry Fields festival in 2017 and returned to headline it in 2018. He has played with independent acts including Blip and Anvesanah, composes as Wabi Sabi, and has produced background scores for Netflix productions.

Keys

Archit Anand

A neo-classical pianist and composer who performed Raga Bhairavi at the G20 Summit in New Delhi in 2023. He has released his own music, including the EP Echoes Within, writes keyboard parts for acts across the Delhi music scene, and founded XL House of Music and Entertainment Media in Gurgaon.

Bass

Amar Pandey

A bassist, producer, and recording engineer with fifteen years of credits across India's indie scene. He has played bass and sung backing vocals for Prateek Kuhad, including Vevo live performances, Mahogany Sessions, and tours, and has produced or engineered records for Taba Chake, Dhruv Visvanath, and Tanmaya Bhatnagar, among many others.

Drums

Ranajoy Das

A Berklee College of Music graduate in Music Performance, specializing in drum set with a focus on world fusion, and over two decades behind the kit. He drums for the indie folk rock band Chaar Hazaari, co-founded the drum and bass duo 5YNDIK8, and gives back as an educator training the next generation of drummers with Berklee methodologies.
